The fact that it doesn't switch on when there is little power consumption means that in combination with an inductive charger it will always switch off when the voltage drops in the socket - for example, hitchhiking, starting. It will not turn on until the cable is disconnected. Pulling the charger out of the socket is not enough. Or useless. Other car chargers I have do not do this (ordinary 10W or 20W Alza P530). Purely for charging your phone with a cable (the right cable of course) is good, but I wouldn't buy it again.
The power is good. Those complaining are probably not using the right cables.
