I recommend inspecting the small side parts before assembly for peeling paint and replace the product if necessary. For us, we spread them out so the sides couldn't be seen, so we didn't return anything. There was not a single defect in the black one.

We were picking out pedestals for the company until I ended up with this one. The sticker that's on the side of the base is stuck on with some sort of glue that just won't come off no matter what you do, and the fact that it takes me several times longer to remove it than it does to assemble the base is just a horror, and I'm taking 2 stars off my annoyance, if the manufacturers realised that this matters too and paid a few pennies for a normal sticker, my experience of this is much better (or at least don't put it in a visible place and paint it at least underneath. )
