It can be used not only under the monitor, but also under the computer under the desk, so that it does not stand e.g. on the carpet. I recommend AlzaErgo monitor holders instead of this one.

I needed a base, under my 3 monitors to keep them at eye level, and also get two floors that can be used to place things that would otherwise be lying on the desk and taking up floor space. I really like the material and the extremely simple assembly (not that I expected anything complicated, but still. )
