AlzaErgo is designed for short people or the product has not been tested in terms of ergonomics. I placed the arm on the very top of the rod so that a third is already in the air and yet I look straight a few cm above the top edge of the monitor. As a result, I either look down, which puts pressure on the cervical spine, or I crouch in my back. Just a total mess.
The arm is fixed, not telescopic. If you place them in the middle of the monitor, you will have the monitor about 40 cm from the edge of the table. I should have bought a meter deep table, but few people have that. The solution is to cough up the aesthetics and place the holder sideways and turn the arm 90 degrees.
Overall, they rate it as a disappointment.
