Některé novější modely automobilů jsou vybaveny systémem, který automaticky odpojuje autobaterii v případě, že vozidlo není delší dobu používáno. Samotná nabíječka však touto funkcí nedisponuje a i ve „standby“ režimu spotřebovává malé množství energie. Z tohoto důvodu doporučujeme nabíječku při nepoužívání odpojit.

jednak u většiny moderních aut, se zásuvka v kabině po čase vypne a pak spotřeba zapojené nabíječky je zcela minimální.
