zorníky se začínají na sluníčku okamžitě ztmavovat a úplně ztmavené jsou v řádu několika sekund. Nedá se přesně změřit za jak dlouho jsou úplně tmavé. Ztmavení je dáno intenzitou UV zářením a to se v průběhu dne mění.
Má na to vliv také zeměpisná šířka či nadmořská výška.
