Prusa i3 MK2 by Josef Průša features several enhancements to print larger objects better and in less time. The second version has a 31% larger build volume, is up to 40% faster, has fully automatic calibration, a new heatbed, and maintenance-free printing area. New 3D printing options allow you to create unique objects and prototypes on your own table, with minimal costs compared to large mass-production printing machines.
The printer uses inductive automatic calibration, which means that the printer automatically calculates bed levelling from 9 calibration points. The automatic compensation is so good that the bed can be firmly attached to the frame. New engines with integrated trapezoidal screw without coupling are considerably more accurate and allow the so-called hop, where the nozzle is slightly raised during passes. This results in a perfectly smooth surface down to the last layer, as the nozzle does not disturb the surface and leaves a better visual impression.
After much experimentation the manufacturer has found the perfect work material. Special polymer holds all used filaments without any extras, the bed can survive a nudge of the hot nozzle or contact with the spatula. The heatbed construction has also been redesigned to avoid any object adhesion. Now the bed has several zones with different performance, which compensates for the lower temperature in the corners. Uniform heating means that you can print even in the corners without making the subsequent object removal difficult.
This is a DIY 3D printer kit. But don’t worry, the packaging includes a detailed assembly manual complete with pictures. There is no soldering; you just assemble things together and wire the connectors. Also included are all the necessary assembly tools, software equipment, and great support from the manufacturer, which has brought them worldwide popularity.
