The AF-S VR 105 f / 2.8G IF-ED delivers the benefits of VR to the macro image. It offers high resolution and overall high optical performance for both digital and cinematic SLRs. The lens is equipped with a second generation Nikon Vibration Reduction System (VR II) that provides versatile handheld shooting while simultaneously stabilizing the image equivalent to up to 4 shutter speeds compared to a conventional lens (Nikon's performance test).
The ultrasonic focusing engine (SWM) and internal focusing (IF) ensure fast automatic focusing and comfortable switching between automatic and manual focusing. The optical performance of the lens enhances the ED lens (extremely low-light glass) to minimize colour defects and the Nano Crystal Coat anti-reflective coating significantly reduces the formation of reflections and veils for resulting sharp and brilliant images. A 9-inch, round iris diaphragm  guarantees a pleasant and natural reproduction of the shaded background of the images. The lens also includes a 62mm diameter filter thread.
