The Musical Fidelity LX2-LPS phono preamplifier can work with both MM and MC cartridges and has an adjustable impedance level. It amplifies the signal from the transmitter with absolutely minimal distortion and thus preserves the character of the source. It boasts accurate RIAA correction, low noise and overload reserve. It is housed in an elegant metal chassis, so in addition to excellent sound, it also impresses with its good looks.
The RIAA correction boasts predictability and consistent accuracy that is within ±0.25 dB over the 20 Hz to 20 kHz range. In addition, it extends up to 45 kHz, minimizing ringing overtones. The result is completely pure high frequencies without intermodulation or other disturbing anomalies.
The signal-to-noise ratio on MM transmissions exceeds 80 dB and on MC transmissions 70 dB, which means that the noise is practically inaudible. The preamp simply handles all the details of the music perfectly and passes them on. Its distortion is also negligible over the entire sound range. The overload protection is exemplary. It is virtually impossible for any transmission to realistically overload it.
