HoloLens 2 is smaller than its predecessor, but much faster and more powerful. The biggest news is the integrated AI microchip, which comes from Microsoft itself. Other innovations include a larger field of view, eye tracking for easier control, and improved hologram manipulation. The field of view is now 70° and detection of actual physical objects has also been improved. The system also detects your hand movements, so you can manipulate objects in space or press virtual keys. Thanks to the use of carbon composite, the device is now more durable and has a total weight of only 566 grams - a weight reduction of 13 grams compared to the previous generation.
You can look forward to the Azure Kinect sensor, ARM chipset, and much more. New eye tracking sensors enable Windows Hello-like login. Eye movement can be used to control apps, and users with visual impairments will appreciate compatibility with dioptric glasses. Computing power is provided by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 and cooling is passive. The integrated battery promises a battery life of up to 3.5 hours, with recharging being handled through a USB-C connector.
