Youth subcultures

The book provides a detailed analysis of selected youth subcultures. The text is based on the theoretical and methodological anchoring of the topic and defines the basic concepts: Youth, culture, subculture, Scene, lifestyle, movement and others. It also introduces selected schools of sociology (such as the Chicago or Birmingham schools) that deal with the topic of subcultures. The author deals with the typology of youth subcultures and their relation to social pathologies, media, market and politics. A closer look at the subculture of hippies, skinheads, football hooligans, punk/hard core, graffiti, metal, gothic rock and dance scene. The book will be useful especially for teachers, journalists, but also for educational counsellors, psychologists and sociologists who work with youth. It is also intended for parents and young people themselves - in a readable form it will introduce them to the formation of individual subcultures and lifestyles in the past and present.
