Woman on fire
Jules Roth is a young up-and-coming journalist. When she manages to land a job with Dan Mansfield, a top investigative reporter, her first assignment is unusual and top secret: is to find a legendary expressionist painting that was looted by the Nazis more than 75 years ago and has not been heard from since. The lost portrait of a beautiful and mysterious woman is sought by a world-famous designer and Dan's personal friend, who has little time left. Meanwhile, the provocative gallerist Margaux de Laurent, a wealthy woman with no scruples, used to getting what she wants, is also searching for the same canvas in Europe. Only Jules and her determination stand in her way.
A young woman becomes increasingly involved in an international art scandal and discovers how many atrocities the Nazis committed in the field of art and that many of these criminal wrongs are still not acknowledged, let alone rectified.
The gripping plot with thriller elements is based on historical facts and gives the reader a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes practices of the art world and the illegal trade in stolen art objects. Woman on Fire tells the story of a strong woman who, like a work of art, can shine her light on history and human hearts.
