Wavesbury: An Indian Christmas
It is December 1757, and David and Elizabeth are finally hoping for a peaceful Christmas at their estate. But after being attacked by a French corsair while sailing across the Atlantic, they are shipwrecked. Surviving in the inhospitable, snow-covered Canadian forests requires unexpected alliances, especially when old enemies reappear… After the tragic battle of Ticonderoga, Wavesbury's regiment is sent to rest in a remote community of devout settlers. Indian attacks and Elizabeth's accusation of witchcraft may just be a cover for more complex intrigues… Sometimes holding a captured city is harder than conquering it. British forces are closing in on Quebec, the decisive battle of the French and Indian War is brewing, and Colonel Wavesbury and his soldiers cannot miss it. Guests are arriving for the christening of Wavesbury's twins. Adam Barclay, his wife Anna, and his sister Lucy also arrive. The christening celebration is disrupted, and Lucy is kidnapped… David, with his men, Elizabeth, and the Barclays, sets off on the kidnapper's trail. Jane meets a ghost from her past. Should she accept help from an enemy she also loves? The search leads them to Gévaudan in France, a region terrorised by a mysterious Beast.
