VONA
A chilling tale from the time when Šumava was swallowed by bloody snow
A story inspired by one of the greatest natural and human disasters in Šumava. Remote settlements below Huťský štít await the arrival of spring in April 1853. In vain. They will only see snowstorms that will bury everything and everyone. And also hunger, unknown epidemics, horror and madness. Some will choose death, others will renounce their own humanity in the fight for survival. The echoes of that ancient tragedy are still passed down through the descendants of one of the families, while a terrible legacy awaits its revelation.
The novel, which pays homage to both horror and detective fiction, tells an ancient story about the struggle of good against evil and forgiveness against hatred. A story about fear and misunderstanding that is passed down from fathers to sons. At least until the moment when the one who doesn' t even have the right to a name in a man' s world enters the scene - Vona.

The ability to illuminate the Czech periphery as a space of unrest, of shifting identities and unresolved traumas, while the rest of the nation is still obsessed with Biedermeier peace and quiet at work, who finishes with duck for Sunday lunch, then makes Petra Klabouchová a personality, which has long been missing in the somewhat fragmented tradition of Czech horror.
- Jarmila Křenková about the novel Ignis fatuus, Seznam Zprávy

An old Klostermann story and a memorial plaque on the wall of a chapel in Cimruká, commemorating an ancient tragedy, led me on the trail of a forgotten story from the very peaks of Šumava. Just as I searched for fragments of those old stories, I slowly let the reader peek into the hidden history of old grievances. And in it we seek the answer to the question of whether it is possible to break the predetermined thread of fate.
