Voices in the Storm

The audiobook Voices in the Storm, by author Darcy Coates, read by Lucie Vondráčková. Black Winter #1 Clare feels that something is lurking outside. Something monstrous, cruel, and extremely hungry. When Clare wakes up in a strange, ancient house that gives her the creeps, she can't remember what happened. A strange man tells her she had an accident and he saved her. Clare wants to leave, but a furious snowstorm is raging outside. She remains trapped with her mysterious saviour and has no choice but to sit and wait. Gradually, however, fragments of memories begin to surface—abandoned cars, children's toys on the road, dark silhouettes in the snow, paralysing fear. The stranger, her supposed saviour, seems kind, but Clare doesn't know if she can trust him. He claims they are alone, but Clare hears and sees things that suggest something is there with them, constantly watching. Clare begins to realise that her accident was no coincidence. The raging storm outside the house isn't the only thing threatening her. Something is out there, waiting for her to come out. Something monstrous, cruel, and extremely hungry. The first part of the Black Winter series, masterfully narrated by Lucie Vondráčková, will keep you in suspense until the very end. “A unique blend of intense, character-focused psychological tension and supernatural elements with a touch of gore. You will jump in horror and at the same time be curious about what comes next.” – Library Journal magazine
