Vladislav Vančura: Baker Jan Marhoul

Jan Marhoul the Baker is Vladislav Vančura's first novel. The work stands out for its unusual pathos and lyricism, unique metaphorical style and is a very distinctive example of interwar avant-garde work. In it, Vančura portrayed a Don Quixote-type hero whose pernicious goodness and corresponding childishness shaped his specific folly. Directed by Petr Adler. Performers Miroslav Doležal, Věra Galatíková, Martin Růžek, Jaromir Spal, Josef Cervinka, Karel Hlušička and Hana Kofránková.
