Vladislav Henry
Although the youngest son of the second Bohemian king Vladislav and his wife Judith of Thuringia is not one of the most famous personalities of the Bohemian Middle Ages, it cannot be overlooked that he was at the birth of royal Bohemia and that his reign in Moravia (1197-1222) is associated with the reforms that gave rise to a provincially defined margraviate. Vladislav Jindřich came out of seclusion only a few times, which corresponds to the modest source base. Hence the question of how to tell his story and to what to attribute the extremely successful transformation of Moravia. The author has chosen to combine a chronological interpretation of the deeds of Margrave Vladislav Henry with an analysis of his significant interventions in the history of Bohemia and Moravia at the end of the 12th and the first decades of the 13th century. The book is a revised edition of the original edition prepared by the Moravian Matrix in 2006; br> Three years ago, the book received an English edition under the title Vladislaus Henry. The Formation of Moravian Identity. East Central and Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages 450-1450.. < br> < br> The publication of the book was supported by the City of Prague.
