Treasure
What treasures do we find and lose during our lives? And is it possible to embark on a search for a treasure that seems to be irretrievably lost in the darkest depths?
The book Treasure tells the story of Karel and Julia Skál, a father and daughter separated by a tragic event. While Karel has set out to fulfill his long-held dream and is willing to do absolutely anything to achieve it, his daughter Julie has reached the pinnacle of her career, from where she is unwilling and unable to move on. They refuse to deal with the past and each deals with the present in their own way. Karel Skála is looking for a lost boat in Bali, living in a rundown resort, drinking more and more and getting into debt. Julie Skálová is a top chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant, but apart from cooking, she refuses to let anything else into her life. The book Treasure takes you into their story together. It is set against the backdrop of a dream about a 16th century ship with a yet-to-be-found chest full of gold and gems on board, and a beautiful exotic island full of miracles and wishes come true.
"You shouldn't borrow other people's money," said Julie conciliatorily. "Say, I do, For example.., hypothetically...., So much, as much as you need." Rock took a breath, to make a point, but Julie wouldn't let him and kept going. "Before I decide, I want you to tell me everything. You want a loan, let's talk like businessmen. So if you want the money, you have to do something about it." The rock was already really broken. He gazed thoughtfully at the horizon. Flashes of the storm could be seen in the distance. "Fine," he said firmly. "I'm still looking for the Sea Flower." "A lifelong obsession," Julie added. Rock just shrugged: "Long-term meticulous work." "Whatever," Julie waved her hand and went back to practicalities. What's more, she noticed that, against her will, she was really starting to care. "But why are you here?" "Because I want to find the treasure," replied the Rock, as if it were the brightest thing in the world.
