The War of the Sleds
The second instalment of the dragon fantasy sensation
Vivien Vlaštovírková has translated the secret language of dragons—and in doing so, has sparked a civil war with dragons and humans fighting on both sides. After a disastrous escape from Bletchley Park, Vivien has reluctantly become the face of the rebellion—and is immediately branded the most wanted criminal in Britain. But what good is a rebel who must hide, unable to help her friends?
Unsure of her mission and torn by doubts about the life she thought she was destined to live, Vivien journeys to the remote Scottish islands. She seeks to find an enigmatic, long-forgotten species of dragon—one that could end the war once and for all.
Reviews for the book:
On every page, Williamson shows what a powerful political tool language is and how it can be used to bend and shape reality, what power well-chosen words hold. Her society is depressing and very similar to our own.
- Pevnost on A Tongue of Dragons
If you enjoy young adult fantasy and are interested in the world of dragons, but don’t want to read another story built mainly on romance, then A Tongue of Dragons might pleasantly surprise you. I recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling and clever story full of mystery, research and well-thought-out characters, which focuses on personal growth, moral dilemmas and complex relationships—not only between people, but also between people and dragons.

S. F. Williamson
S. F. Williamson has always been fascinated by languages—especially how they are born and change. Languages surrounded her long before she decided to study French and Italian. She always knew, in a way, that languages are living, moving, breathing things and that to speak them is to have access to the ideas, traditions, and people she loves. The novels A Tongue of Dragons (2025, Czech 2025) and The War of Serpents are inspired by her work as a literary translator.
