The Strnad Effect

Matěj Strnad led a relatively happy, ordinary life. Maybe he would have liked to see his son from his first marriage more often, he would have liked a better job, and he definitely wanted to improve his love life, but he was basically content.
But then strange alien portals began to appear all over the Earth. A glow emanated from them that was slowly killing humanity. Matěj would have perceived this catastrophe with the same terrified helplessness as the rest of humanity, but by chance one such portal appeared right in front of him.

Everyone around Matěj died; he woke up in a hospital with an alien piece of technology in his body and the ability to close the portals. But strange chrome monsters began to emerge from the portals, whose only task is to kill Matěj.
Matěj Strnad, a warehouse worker from Most, escorted by the Army of the Czech Republic, must now close the portals and thus save humanity. Matěj calls it “a bizarre ability he never asked for”. The rest of the world calls it…
