The Secret of the Emperor's Mistress
Intrigue, love and betrayal in the countryside
Dona Emilia, the spurned mistress of Emperor Rudolf II himself, retires to the countryside. However, she has no idea how her decision to marry a young nobleman will affect not only her fate, but that of many others. The intrigues of the countryside are certainly no match for those at the imperial court. Even Katerina Lauber, the beautiful widow of the impoverished knight, knows about it. She knows the secret of the Emperor's mistress, and there's a price to pay...

Choose from the literary works of Nadia Horáková. We can recommend especially the historical novels set in medieval Brno from the series The Mighty and the Poor of the Moravian Margrave, the witty and apt observations and incidents from the teaching practice embodied in the book Secrets of the Assembly Room, or some of the suspenseful stories, such as The Grave of the Thirteenth Virgin.
