Augsburg 1920. After his return from Russian captivity, Paul Melzer took over the management of the factory and helped the family business regain its former glory.
His sister Elisabeth moves back into her family home with her new love. Paul's wife Marie fulfils an old dream: she's gonna open a fashion studio. Her models are successful, but increasingly there are disputes with Paul.
One day, Marie finally takes the children and moves out of the manor house. The wheels of fate are picking up speed...
