The man who fell to Earth

A slow, sad excursion into the depths of humanity and existence that is still relevant today. Thomas Jerome Newton is an alien whose home planet Anthea has been destroyed by nuclear war. He comes to Earth to save the last survivors. He patents advanced Anthean technology and thanks to it, gathers enough funds to build a ship that will bring the last three hundred Antheans to Earth. His plans begin to fall apart when he succumbs to ailments that are all too human and threaten the purpose with which he came to Earth.
