The aging Rosenberg Petr Vok already knows that his marriage to the young Katherine of Ludanice was a mistake. The girl not only does not abound with the expected wealth, but is also not completely mentally well. Vok's consolation is the handsome and energetic Zuzana Vojířová from Vacovice, the hofmistress of his fraucimor. At first, Rosenberg showers her with expensive gifts, without expecting her to show any interest in him.
