The Last Battalion

Viktor Koutecký from Lichovice, a representative of the officer corps of the Austro-Hungarian army, lives as if every day should be his last. Neither to the large estate he had inherited nor to his wife Magda did he seem to be bound by anything. After being wounded in combat, he is confined to a wheelchair, completely unable to communicate. After a strange experience with lightning in the park, his consciousness and body slowly begin to heal. In his dreams, traumatic experiences and faces from war battles come back to him, especially the face of the Italian lieutenant. He sets off on a journey to Italy, where events take a dramatic turn.
