The Jealous One

Audiobook Žárlivka (The Jealous Woman), by author Lenka Pastorčáková, read by Anna Brousková. WHAT IS A PATHOLOGICALLY JEALOUS PERSON CAPABLE OF WHEN CONSUMED BY OBSESSION? The main character, Renáta, consumed by her own fears and distrust, goes through an agonising internal struggle that gradually becomes destructive not only for herself but also for those close to her. When it seems she has hit rock bottom, she hears a song—a piece composed by her father and sung by an unknown woman. Why does the voice torment her so? What secret connects her own pain with the long-ago events between her parents? Renáta resolves to delve into the past and uncover a truth that might either allow her to find peace or, conversely, drag her into even deeper chaos. Under the pressure of these events and her jealousy, her relationship with her partner, David, also begins to fall apart, and Renáta must confront the questions of where reality ends and delusion begins. What is behind her unquenchable fears? And can she find her way out of her delusions at all? The book is accompanied by the original song Až tu budeš s námi (When You're Here With Us) by pianist Tomáš Kačo and Markéta Irglová, an Oscar winner for the original song for the film Once.
