The Invisible Man

Is it possible to forgive an old crime and right a wrong?

Emilia works as a radio editor. A series of unexpected events turns her life upside down and she returns to the town of Serafina, where she was born. He gradually pieces together the story of his family from hints and clues. In order to start a new life in the present, she must come to terms with ancient generational traumas and the truth about the past of her loved ones.
At the same time, somewhere in the east, a military conflict is escalating. Serafina and the entire country fall into a suffocating mood full of fear, which awakens old grievances, animosity, and prejudice.
The two timelines are connected by several characters and destinies. The secret, family dramas, exotic environment, hate and love, but above all a strong atmosphere — that' s just a brief list of ingredients, from which Bell composed her novel with mastery, and with linguistic sophistication, what we are used to with her.

Bell is playing with writing. He tries unusual paths and thinks about how to put everything together in a way that allows the reader to absorb the nuances and come back and think about what he has read.

The text lay deep buried and then suddenly and abruptly emerged. His starting shots were stories about the desecrated Bratislava bell tower, about the humiliation of the rebellious boys and their mountain village, and about a man so dark that he could not be seen in the darkness. Like the decadent musical variety shows, the text was born in San Remo, Italy, where the author spent three feverish weeks writing. Perhaps the tired atmosphere of a resort after the season has crept into it, once attracting crowned heads of Europe, but today more likely only Russian rich people and decadent authors.
