The Golden Cross

The first volume of the Urban Wars series. Václav Vran works as an analyst at a bank. He leads a mundane life, which he keeps under control with a mobile phone, lots of money and superficial friends. One day, while he's taking a shortcut through the park on his way home from work, a demon attacks him. Although he survives the collision thanks to the sacrifice of an unknown man in chainmail, his life is changed forever. Then the story moves at a frantic pace, tearing away the veils of everyday reality and revealing the true soul of Prague. The heart of the city is beating at breakneck speed. Who are the Pragueers who wear swords under their coats? Where did the city druids come from? What evil lurks in the labyrinth of Prague's canals and where is the soul of the city hidden? There will be time for answers later, much less will suffice for Václav to begin with. Survive. The Golden Cross is the opening volume of the fantasy trilogy City Wars. It is an urban fantasy from the Czech Republic, which tells the story of the birth of a hero. If hero is the right word, of course.
