The game of wishes

Be careful what you wish for.
Lucy Hart knows better than anyone what it' s like to grow up without loving parents. She was lonely and neglected as a child, and found solace in books, especially the Clockwork Island series by Jack Masterson. Now twenty-six, she works as a teacher' s assistant and passes on her love of books to her students, including six-year-old orphan Christopher, who lives with foster parents. Lucy would do anything to adopt him, but it seems that unless she has enough money, no one will trust her with the boy.
Lucy is about to give up when Jack Masterson unexpectedly announces that he has written another book after years, and also announces a competition to be held at his house on Clock Island. Lucy will become one of four contestants who can win the only manuscript of this book, submit it to the publisher, and receive a significant sum of money.
For Lucy, winning would mean everything – she could finally adopt Christopher. But the competition is not easy, because there are not only other cunning contestants around, but also unscrupulous book collectors, and she is also distracted by the very handsome illustrator of Jack' s books. And Jack " Mastermind" Masterson himself is plotting a plot that will change all of their lives forever.
