The cry of the magpie

Sequel to the award-winning fantasy The Magpie' s Song with an unconventional protagonist

Henika has no desire for further adventures, she just wants to live in her little house, continue to heal people in the neighborhood, and dream of her unfulfilled love for the blacksmith. However, fate had something else in store for her.

Her journey to uncover the truth alongside an unexpected ally will be far more challenging, treacherous, and painful than she expected. The country is on the brink of civil war, and the mad king is ordering the murder of the remaining survivors of the three forbidden orders and anyone who disagrees with him. It seems like it couldn' t get any worse.

Henika will soon find out the opposite, and she will also be faced with a difficult choice. That' s why she' s looking for allies across the country and returning to places she' s been before, where a chapter in her life and the country' s may be closed.

If you like fantasy and can appreciate a well-written story with an unconventional approach to the genre and a strong yet believable main character, then The Magpie' s Song will enchant you.

A huge plus and also a reason to read the book is the character of the main character. At a time when we are harassed at every turn by crowds of unreal superheroes endowed with almost divine abilities, Henika arrives. An ordinary woman. A sorceress and healer who searches for meaning in the things happening around her, loses illusions, makes mistakes. A flesh-and-blood figure trying to achieve his goal, which seems to be receding with the coming of enlightenment.

The Magpie' s Song relies on classic schemes of heroic fantasy and uses economical brushstrokes to depict a relatively vast medieval world. […] And considering the speed at which you devour this piece, it' s definitely worth trying out the new voice of Czech fantasy!
