The Cemetery Book

The Cemetery Book
One would like to say that Nobody Owens, known as Nik, is a normal guy. But that's only half true. After the tragic death of his parents, his home is a cemetery and he was raised by ghosts, werewolves and other monsters along with his guardian angel Silas, who belongs neither to the world of the living nor to the dead. But thanks to them, he will survive and learn many useful things - like how to become invisible to humans. Various adventures and dangers await the young boy in the graveyard, including the ancient Indigo Man under the hill, the gate leading to the ruins of the ghoul-inhabited city, and the strange and terrible threat of Sleer. Will Nik ever leave the cemetery? And if so, what will he have to face?
The book has won the Carnegie Medal (one of Britain's most prestigious literary awards for children's book authors), the annual Hugo Award and others. Time magazine ranked it among the 100 best books in the young adult genre.
