The Castamar Cookbook Part 1
Spain in 1720.
Clara Belmonte, who grew up in the family of a respected doctor, fears for her future. After her father's sudden death, she is left without means or protection. She also suffers from a severe affliction: as soon as she leaves an enclosed space or steps out into an open area, she is overcome by panic attacks. Fortunately, she possesses an extraordinary gift – a passion for cooking, with the ability to conjure up the most imaginative and delicious meals. Thanks to excellent references, she is hired as an assistant cook in the luxurious ducal mansion of the Duke of Castamar. The culinary delights immediately awaken the Duke's interest in his new cook. However, strict social rules forbid any closer relationship between the aristocracy and the servants. Despite this, the Duke provides Clara with rare cookbooks containing hidden notes, and the delighted cook “responds” with absolutely fantastic dishes. Soon, however, gossip begins to circulate at court, and considerable resentment towards Clara and her influence over the Duke grows among the household staff…
