The Case of the Betrayed King

The novel is set in 870 and depicts the true story of the betrayal of the Great Moravian ruler Rastislav by his nephew Svatopluk.

In the spring of 870, King Rastislav organizes a feast to commemorate the Moravians' successful repulsion of Frankish attacks the previous year and to strengthen the relations between the two Mojmirovs, which had been disturbed by Svatopluk's guilt. During the feast, however, a drunken vladyk is poisoned and accidentally drinks from Svatopluk's cup. And more murders follow in short order.
