Testimony of life in the DPRK 2
The sequel to the Magnesia Literary Award-winning book
We are living in turbulent times - war is raging not far from us, democratic regimes are facing a massive rise of autocracy, yet there are countries where the established order is almost unchanged. One such country is North Korea.
In 2020, Nina Špitálníková brought seven interviews that let readers peek under the crust of one of the world's most cruel regimes. He is now following up his Magnesia Liter Prize-winning book Testimonies of Life in the DPRK with eight more interviews.
The interviewees lived in North Korea in different ways. Some were prosperous, others barely survived, some sacrificed for their family, others focused on themselves. One thing they have in common, however, is that at one point they saw no other option but to flee their homeland. This is even knowing that by escaping they may endanger their loved ones and may not survive. They survived. And thanks to this, they were able to give testimony about life in the DPRK.

Testimony about life in the DPRK
The book, which brings rare testimonies of people who escaped from the North Korean regime, won the Magnesia Litera Prize for journalism in 2021.
