Sudeten House
It is the summer of 1945, shortly after the war. Many Czech families are heading to the Sudetenland to take over the homes of the departing Germans. Jiří and Marie Smolík, together with their son František, arrive with all their modest possessions in the foothill village of Glasendorf. The cruel and cynical national administrator and member of the Red Guard Vojtěch Tomeček is in office here. In his jovial and sycophantic way, he offers the family a beautiful Sudeten house. The Smolík house immediately impresses, it has only one shortcoming. It is still occupied by an original German family awaiting removal. So they all have to learn to live in the same household for a while. Some who are the new masters here, but have to suffer the old inhabitants of the house. And others who have lived here all their lives but are now actually strangers. And in the background of all this, old wrongs and wounds caused by the war are emerging.
