Skulls
Pyrre doesn’t like being called a Skull. The word fails to capture the beauty of her devotion to Ananshael, the god of death. Besides, she is not an assassin, as Ananshael's servants are often called, but a priestess. Or rather, she will be, if she passes her final trial.
The problem isn’t the killing – Pyrre has spent her entire life training in the art of death. The problem is love. Pyrre has a fortnight to kill seven people in accordance with an ancient song, and one of those people must be her one true love. But she has never been in love before, and if she fails, she will be given to her god. She may not fear death, but she does fear failure. And so she has no choice but to return to her hometown – a city on the brink of revolution, where forgotten old gods lurk in the shadows demanding blood – to a past she has rejected, in the hope of finding love… and ending it with the edge of her blade.
