Sherlock Holmes and the Gods of War
The year is 1913, and Dr Watson is visiting Sherlock Holmes in his cottage near Eastbourne, where he has retired. Suddenly, tragedy strikes: the body of a young man, Patrick Mallinson, is found beneath the cliffs of Beachy Head.
The dead man's father, a wealthy businessman, commissions Holmes to prove that his son committed suicide because of an unsuccessful love affair with an older woman. The woman in question, however, insists there is more to Patrick's death. She saw mysterious symbols drawn on his body and fears he was under the influence of some malevolent cult. When someone starts making attempts on Watson's life, it seems she might be right. With the threat of war hanging over England, who knows what sinister forces are at work…?
