Shards of time

The governor of the sacred island of Kouros and his mistress have been murdered inside a locked and guarded room. The only witnesses to the crime – the guards who broke down the door when they heard screams from within – have been driven mad with terror, babbling about phantoms… and things worse than phantoms.

Alec and Seregil, master spies sent to Kouros by the queen, find all the excitement and danger they could ever wish for – and then some. For an ancient evil has awoken here, an immense power that will not stop until it escapes its otherworldly prison and takes its revenge on all who live.

And only someone like Alec – who has died and been brought back to life – can step between worlds to face the killer… even if it means a second, and all too permanent, death.
