Seats of Czech rulers
This book is intended primarily for younger readers, but it will certainly offer interesting information to adults who can just look into history without having to go through extensive scholarly texts.
In the first part, you will be introduced to the construction of the rulers' residences, which were not only castles, their defence and the everyday life of the noble inhabitants – from heating, lighting and (un)washing to feasting or tournaments in which the mares did not participate.
The second part of the book is an invitation to walk around the most important Czech settlements, which are complemented by easy-to-remember and lesser-known attractions.
For example:
• why kings didn't run around castle courtyards with a crown on their heads,
• why it was necessary to change the sand in the hourglass,
• what Charles IV had. to do with plums, what he brushed his teeth with and why he was imprisoned in two castles,
• in which castle is located the oldest preserved elevator, 150 years old,
• what was forbidden to the inhabitants of the houses of Golden Lane at Prague Castle,
• that the monarch's castle got „ rotated“ clock,
• how the knights protected their armor from rusting,
• why tournament participants were not hoisted onto the back of a horse by crane.
