Risk company

Ulrich Beck's book Risk Society is one of the most important books written on this topic in the last thirty years. It has influenced not only a number of other thinkers but also the entire way of thinking about this issue. For many, Beck has become the personification of a completely new sociological approach to ecology. His works reflect the existence of the limits of growth and attempt to show how this fact is projected into the character of modern society, how it is at the same time co-conditioned by this character and constantly reproduced. Beck's concept of the risk society has become established in world sociology, all the more so because it is linked to a stimulating entry into the ongoing debate about the true nature of modernity and the overall meaning of the modernisation process. As an afterword, the book includes the text of Ulrich Beck's lecture 'World Risk Society Revisited' from February 2002.
