Reading Club V BORDEAUX

Do you like books? The Bordeaux Reading Club is looking for new members!

Leah and her husband moved to the French countryside to pursue their dream of becoming self-sufficient and living a happy and healthy life. Faced with reality, however, Leah discovers that everything is not as rosy as she imagined. Hard and constant work in the garden hardly brings sufficient harvest or satisfaction. And the unpredictable behavior of a teenage daughter isn't helping matters. And what's more, her husband seems to find any weird excuse to sneak out of the house. Where does he go and who does he hang out with? So when her friend Grace starts a book club, Leah decides to join and do something for herself. She is attracted not only by books, but also by the chance to meet new friends and, over a glass of wine, to escape into stories that will take her far away from the life that doesn't match the one she dreamed of.

But all the members of the club are special in their own way. The distant Grace, who lives alone, knows everyone and everything, but doesn't really love anyone. Monica, who is uptight, her husband works abroad and she is alone in a foreign country with a small baby. Handsome bricklayer George, who has never read much and no one has any idea why he joined the club in the first place. And Alfie, who is almost twenty years younger than the others and hides a dark secret. And as they discuss the books and characters together, they begin to bond despite their different personalities and fates, and Leah eventually learns that happy endings don't always look the way we think they do.

A beautifully written relaxing book from a bestselling author A year in the French countryside or Moon in Provence. It will warm your heart as much as a glass of delicious wine. A story about the importance of not losing dreams and hope and what self-knowledge, friends... and books mean to us.
