Rath
The grand finale of a unique novel series
Berlin, autumn 1938. Gereon Rath is back in Germany.
The health of the head of the family, Engelberth Rath, deteriorates sharply after a stroke, so his supposedly dead son decides to return to his homeland from the USA. And while the whole family anxiously watches his father's health, Gereon Rath is forced to hide in a small town in the Rhineland, not far from Cologne. Meanwhile, in Berlin, his wife, Charlotte Rath, gets involved in a murder investigation, as their former foster son, Fritze, is the suspect. But when Gereon discovers that Charlotte has disappeared and may have been imprisoned, he decides to risk his safety and heads to the capital one last time. Hatred towards Jews is growing throughout Germany, and events are rapidly unfolding. What Charly had long foreseen and Gereon had long denied is becoming a reality, culminating in the events of Kristallnacht. Life in Germany as everyone once knew it is no longer possible. But what comes next?
