Protective dams on watercourses

Floods represent the greatest direct risk of natural disasters for the countries of Central Europe and are the cause of major emergencies, causing extensive material damage and loss of life in the affected areas. The catastrophic flood events of recent years have shown the destructive power of water and have highlighted once again the relevance of issues related to systematic flood protection. This publication, unique on our market, summarizes the issue of protective dams on watercourses and thus creates a basis for their design, construction and operation. The provisions of the relevant standards were incorporated into the text during the drafting process. the selected standards have been referenced. New findings in the cited literature and selected foreign documents were also taken into account. The text is supplemented by photo documentation and numerous diagrams that can be used as a basis for drawing documentation.
