The third publication in a series about providing nursing care, which is taught at healthcare-focused schools. The first publication dealt with basic physical examinations performed by a nurse, the second with barrier nursing care. The topic of the fourth will be hygienic care, bed care, and patient positioning.

Each publication is always focused on a specific topic of care provided by a general nurse (practical nurse, midwife, paramedic, and staff from other non-medical fields). The publications include general information as well as specific nursing activities.

In this publication, readers will find topics such as: definition, assessment of the patient's nutritional status – scales (MNA, BMI…), dietary system, alternative dietary approaches, indications for enteral nutrition, patient preparation, equipment, administration (including application of nutrition into an NG tube, PEG/PEJ), monitoring effects, and evaluation.
