Posthumous surrender

The poet of Czech action fiction returns to the scene of the crime in a rainy crime noir. In every private investigator's life, there comes a job after which nothing is the same.
One of these appears at the bottom of a perpetually empty bottle in front of Vincent the Lame, and when he can't get rid of it even by throwing it into an ashtray full of eggs, he finally takes it. Thirst can be extremely bad even in the advanced twenty-first century, and debts are more likely to get you to the grave than to the pub.
With a hangover pounding on his temples and a soul full of demons, he takes a train to an isolated area called the Rest. However, he cannot imagine the madness and hardships that await him there. And the dead bodies won't be long in coming. The local underworld will also have its say, and reality will turn into a festering wound that even unbridled cynicism or a generous sprinkling of sake will not heal.
