Petrified blood
The Quarry: The Easter that Changed Everything
A blood-red vein runs through the limestone on the coast of Öland, a rich red layer once believed to be the fossilised blood spilt in a battle between rock trolls and fairies from the plains. Per Mörner, who has come to Stenvik to celebrate Easter with his children, knows all these legends. Against his original plans, he also brings his troubled father, Jerry, who is later murdered. It seems he was killed by someone he knew. But who could have hated him so terribly? The question gives Per Mörner no peace. And what he uncovers will shake him to his very core. This is the third, eagerly awaited novel from the island of Öland by a winner of prestigious literary awards, a more than worthy successor to Stieg Larsson!
Johan Theorin
Johan Theorin was born in Gothenburg. From childhood, he spent every summer on the island of Öland, which had a fateful influence on his later literary work. His mother's family, consisting mainly of sailors, fishermen, and farmers, had lived there for centuries, preserving the island's heritage, mysterious tales, and folklore. This almost mystical environment inspired him to create a series of stories in which he masterfully combines the genius loci of Öland with a detective plot. He currently lives in Gothenburg and works as a journalist. This is one of the reasons why he is often compared to Stieg Larsson. The author began his literary career by writing short stories for various magazines and anthologies. His first novel, Skumtimmen (Echoes from the Dead, MOBA - November 2011), was not published until the spring of 2007 and immediately became a bestseller. It has since been published in twenty countries, including Germany, the USA, Brazil, Thailand, and Slovakia, and in 2007 it won the Swedish Crime Writers' Academy award for Best Crime Novel of the Year.
