Orchard of bones
BURIED BONES HIDE A CHILLING SECRET...
People start disappearing in Ostrava and the traces disappear as quickly as the hopes of Detective Adam Richter. The investigation hits invisible walls and backstabbing from within, but Adam refuses to give up and dives into the dark underbelly of the city on his own: of seedy bars, underground tunnels and closed sectarian communities.
The breakthrough comes with the archaeologist Eleonora Kočí. She sees in the case the handwriting of her father and the powerful manipulator whose shadow has haunted her all her life. The investigation leads them to a forgotten mass grave from the Second World War, which lies beneath Milada Horáková's orchard.
The deeper the two unexpected allies delve into the mystery of the buried bones, the more they fall into the crosshairs of Eleanor's father's cult. In the end, they are not only concerned about justice, but about not ending up as another nameless victim in a pit covered with lime.
___
In Martin Müller's gripping crime thriller, eerie echoes of the forgotten Hanke concentration camp resound. Fans of Lars Kepler, C. J. Tudor or Bernard Minier should not be left out.
