Optimism, pessimism and depression prevention
We can assume that life is a walk in the park. However, reality shows that this is not the case. In life we get into differentsituations. Sometimes we are surprised by events we never thought would befall us. The book reports on laboratory experiments in which pessimism was experimentally induced, first in various animals and then in humans. It compares the symptoms of artificially induced pessimism with those of depression. It shows when and where it is more appropriate to choose optimism, where its limits are and where it is more appropriate to lean towards pessimism. It describes in detail the methods of how to move from pessimism to optimism and to break free from the shackles of depression. It emphasizes the importance of experiences of success in coping with small tasks in childhood. It provides empirically validated information on the impact of optimism and pessimism on our health, athletic performance and work success. The publication will certainly be appreciated not only by students of psychology, medical disciplines and professionals in the helping professions, but especially by the general public.
