Operative II - The Wretches of Kabul
Operative intervenes again. This time in a kidnapping in Afghanistan.
The novel trilogy The Operative continues with the second part. Once again we meet Captain David Prokop, who is deployed as a military intelligence operative with the Czech Army contingent in Afghanistan. Just before the end of his mission, however, a Czech couple is kidnapped and Captain Prokop is immediately called to the case. What drove the Afghan kidnappers to commit such a desperate crime and why did they not even claim responsibility for the kidnapping? Is it even possible to track down a Czech couple in the dark alleys of Kabul's suburbs? And how will it all affect David's personal life again?
The Losers of Kabul is loosely based on the spy thriller The Rule of Three Sources. Eduard Krainer knows the environment he writes about perfectly, which makes his novels very authentic. It realistically depicts the work of an investigator, the operational procedures of the army and the interaction of different nationalities on a foreign mission. His action scenes, handled with wit and insight, entertain and horrify the reader at the same time. In this book, Eduard Krainer draws on his own experience - during his time in the Afghan mission he was actively involved in the search for two Czech women kidnapped in 2013 in the province of Baluchistan in Pakistan.

Eduard Krainer
Eduard Krainer (* 1971) spent the longest part of his professional career in the service of the state, first with the Police of the Czech Republic and later with the Military Intelligence. He has worked in units dealing with the fight against organised crime, terrorism and extremism. He was also deployed abroad and spent six months in Afghanistan as an intelligence operative in the ISAF mission. As a consultant and lecturer, he now trains companies in the field of security in crisis situations, for example how to act in the event of a terrorist attack. He also works with children: as a primary school teacher and as a coach of a sports club. He also cooperates with the association of war veterans, whose memories, as well as his own rich experience, are a stimulating source for the themes of the book trilogy Operative: The Rule of Three Sources, The Losers of Kabul and The Body Hides the Jungle. He is now working on his next book, which will be set against the backdrop of the war conflict in the former Yugoslavia.
