Open Questions in Early Christianity Research

Understanding a phenomenon that has accompanied humanity for two millennia and is one of the fundamental determinants of its history is not an easy task. That phenomenon is Christianity, and the scholar who has devoted his life's research to it is Prof. Otakar A. Funda. He had to overcome many obstacles on his way, from open hostility to open misunderstanding, but his persistent efforts bore fruit not only in the form of his works, especially such as Christianity, a phenomenon of human history and culture (1992), Faith without Religion (1994), Between Faith and Rationality (2003) and especially Jesus and the Christ Myth (2007), but also through many students, that he influenced and initiated into this research. In the book, to which one of his youngest students has contributed in no small way, he returns to a key phase in the history of Christianity, its origins and early period. Funda and his co-author summarize their thoughts and interpretations of the topic, while updating them with some references to contemporary contexts. They prove that it is still an open and lively topic.
